Qualcomm is back with it's fast charging technology Quick Charge 5. It will be the world's First commercially available 100 Watt charging technology. It's predecessor Quick Charge 4 supports about 30 Watts but now Quick Charge 5 supports 100 Watts. QC4 to QC5 is a massive jump for Qualcomm

Quick Charge 5 supports about 100 Watt fast charging and keeps the battery 10°C cooler and it is 70% more efficient to boot. Reports claim, this technology will be easily available for all the upcoming smartphones.

Qualcomm has tested this technology on a 4500mAh battery. According to Qualcomm it can charge 50% of a 4500mAh battery in just 5 mins and can charge 0 to 100% in just 15 mins.

In this case Qualcomm has used Dual Charging solution, Which splits a 4500mAh battery into two 2250mAh batteries and connected them in series to achieve higher voltage. This can also help in overall battery life of the cell. This was also showcased in a Oppo device which supports 65 Watt Fast charging. Triple cell charging is also supported with Quick Charge 5.
QC5 can work with normal devices and Apple devices too.

Qualcomm defines QC5 system is safer than plain power input. It has 8 levels of voltage protection, 3 levels of current protection, 3 levels of thermal protection and overvoltage protection at 25v.

Consumers may expect to see QC5 in smartphones coming in 3rd quarter of this year. Qualcomm Unveiled two charge controller chips (i.e) SMB1396 and MSB1398. These chips support both wired and wireless charging with single and dual charging solution. For a single cell Smartphone it will be supported upto 45 Watt in the consideration of thermal problems and Battery overall life.
