Starlink Beta Test Shows 60Mbps Of Download Speeds

A user on Reddit has posted a pic of Ookla's speed tested website and spotted 13 tests  registered over Starlink.

As starlink will be available for consumer in coming years there is a question in everyone's mind that how fast does this satellite internet will be?. A Reddit user while crawling Ookla's speed test website spotted 13 tests registered over Space X starlink project. These beta test results show that download speeds are 11Mbps to 60Mbps which is a decent speed compared to 4G services in India at some locations. 

For who don't know what is starlink, starlink is a project where 12000 satellites with possibility of further extension to 42000 will be deployed into the sky which cover all over the world and give access to internet at each and every point of the world. These starlink satellites will floating 550km above the sea level which is much closer than any other satellite over head.

While testing we found downloads were pretty much better at minimum speed of 11Mbps to 60Mbps but Upload speeds were not found that great compared to downloads. Upload speed is at 1Mbps which will maximize 27 Mbps. This test are just server exchange speeds but if starlink starts there operations these numbers can rise up to 100Mbps or more. Starlink goal is to provide 1Gbps internet service through there satellites.

These speeds are better than speeds provided by telecoms in India. There are places where internet services are not provided or it is impossible to provide internet but starlink can serve all the places around the world even in deserts and northern or southern polls. Starlink can change the way we use the internet. Hope starlink project serve the consumer soon.
