Over 3 Billion users globally are at risk due to Qualcomm Processors which are mostly used in Android Phones. Checkpoint research claims over 400 vulnerabilities are found in the Qualcomm's Digital Signal Processors. Qualcomm chips are used in over 40% of smartphone brand in the market like Google, Samsung, OnePlus, etc..

If these security issues are exploited then it can permit hackers to use your phone for spying and allow them to get access to user data including photos, videos, mic, camera, Call Recording, Real Time GPS location without any user's interaction.

Hacker can also push DOS attacks which means your phone will no longer work. Another major problem is that hacker can also install malware and malicious programs on these phones that will not only submerge or hide the activities but also make them unremovable from these devices.

Checkpoint informed Qualcomm about their security flaws. Now Qualcomm is in a run to patch up these flaws. Till now Qualcomm has fixed around 7 of their vulnerabilities.

Checkpoint said "We have also updated to relevant government officials and Qualcomm partner companies which they have collaborated to assist making their devices safer"

Regarding this issue Qualcomm has made a statement that "We are working delightly to validate this issue and make appropriate mitigations available to OEM's. We have no evidence it is currently being exploited. We encourage end users to update their phones and devices as soon as patches become available and to only install apps from trusted source like Google Play store only"

This Qualcomm's security ambiguity will only affect 40% of android phones because Iphone run on home based Apple Bionic Processors. On the Other hand some of the Android Phones are also on the safer side thanks to MediaTek Processors which are used in about 21% of android phones, samsung also uses their home made Exynos Processors in their mid range and premium phones in selected countries and Huawei (Honor) uses their home based chipset called Kirin.
